Mentoring Committee Sponsored Progressions

by Laurence Hoess

Attend the May meeting for the Mentoring Committee-sponsored progressions session. Progressions, a session type offered each year at STC’s annual conference, consist of three 30-minute rounds, allowing attendees to hear about three different topics during the 90-minute session. The last progressions session in January 1998 was well attended and received good reviews.

In each round, our table hosts (STC RMC mentors) will start with a 10-minute presentation about their topics and then initiate an interactive discussion with attendees. As you arrive at the May meeting, you’ll receive a detailed list of table topics—ranging from tools to skills to STC information—from which you can choose.

The progressions session at our May meeting will provide a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and gain insight into how other technical communicators in the profession handle specific issues.

The chapter’s Mentoring Program promotes and encourages interest in technical communication by drawing on the incredible expertise and leadership within STC. We currently have about 50 members who are serving as mentors on a wide range of topics. Come learn about many different topics from seasoned professionals!
