Introduction to Blogging: A New Technical Communicator Role
Writing a product blog can help you connect and communicate with your users while simultaneously helping them move up to a more advanced level of product knowledge.
Details
Blogging is well known for its freedom of expression, transparency, and honest voice. Unfortunately, this same narrative-based format is still largely unexplored by many technical communicators.
Technical communicators can leverage blogs to establish an open channel of communication with their users. When technical communicators provide tips and how-to information about the products they document, they can help users move up to a more advanced, expert level.
Blogs can also be a way of spreading excitement about your product, making users more passionate, while also enabling feedback to enhance your team's knowledge of user behavior.
In this webinar, you'll learn to unlock your writing muse, identify characteristics that contribute to good posts, evaluate different blogging platforms, explore varieties of content formats, grow your readership (slowly but surely), and avoid pitfalls in corporate environments. As technical communicators embrace the creative writer inside them, they can unleash tremendous literary energy in this format.

He records podcasts, often interviewing technical writing luminaries around the world. He founded WriterRiver.com, a Twitter-like social news site where anyone can submit links to articles about technical communication. And he has presented at the Doc Train West and STC Summit conferences.
