7:00 - 9:00 pm Announcements and program

Directions, Transportation, and  Parking: Located near the Tivoli Center and the King Center near the intersection of 9th and Lawrence streets, St. Cajetan's does not have a parking lot directly connected to it. The surface lot shared by the Tivoli and the King Center is close by. The parking garage next to the Tivoli is a little longer walk, but is well-lit and you can go through the Tivoli (or skirt the front of the Tivoli) to get to St. Cajetan's.

This map shows details of the campus, buildings, and parking lots.

No longer a church, St. Cajetan's is recognizable by its Spanish Colonial architecture. Other nearby landmarks include Golda Meir's former Denver home (relocated to the campus) which is next door to the church building.

Exits from I-25 serving the Auraria Campus include Auraria Parkway, Colfax Avenue, and Speer Boulevard.

Details: Learn how to do persona-based, scenario-based, heuristic evaluation--a technique you can use with documentation, stand-alone documents, web sites, and even software or hardware interfaces in this interactive session with Ginny Redish.

You can use this method to get a good sense of your product's usability. Hear Ginny's stories of "channeling" older adults to test web sites and changing developers' views of their own products.

We'll try out this technique with three examples of different types of content. We'll create mini-personas for each situation, describe relevant scenarios, and critique the content by being the personas and doing the scenarios.

We'll then consider the heuristics (guidelines) we used and consider how they match the sets of heuristics and how much we can generalize from what we've done.

Come have fun and take home new ideas you can immediately apply to your work.
