Job Description:

* Manage documentation consisting of numerous types of software development assets such as source code, binary objects, requirements and design artifacts.
* Create and maintain software build and installation packaging documentation in coordination with development and quality assurance staff.
* Document, with the assistance of the product team and developers, the release of software builds.
* Technical and User guides by role: Employer roles: HR, Employee, Supervisor Internal roles.

Technical Skills:

Ajilon Consulting has an opening for a Contracts Document Specialist that is able to telecommute. May occasionally need to go into the office located in DTC. This position is long term and will be an Ajilon Consultant for at least 1 year, and then will convert to full time with the client. Contracts Document Specialist should have advanced knowledge of MS Word, Macros, control keys, and creating templates. Scripting experience is very helpful. The individual will be working with the Contracts Management Team to create IT contracts. Experience in Technical Writing and Contract documents is required. Will need to have some management experience as they will be managing the process. Will be providing input on Web Site layout and coordinate with the Web Developers as well.

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field or technical communications.
  • Up to 8 years experience in the field accompanied by an extensive portfolio.
  • A thorough understanding of the publishing process and the ability to work with raw engineering data and develop it into end-user documentation.
  • Experience using Style Guides such as Chicago Manual of Style and the Microsoft Manual of Style.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Excellent ability to work either in a team environment or individually when required.
  • Excellent working knowledge of desktop publishing tools such as FrameMaker, and on-line help systems such as Robohelp.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Produce high quality end-user documentation and procedures for a technical audience.
  • Work on all phases of information development from information gathering, research, and interviewing, to writing and editing. Documentation includes both Hardware and Software documents.
  • Produce graphics and illustrations using Visio, such as timing diagrams, block diagrams and flow charts.
  • Produce paper and electronic versions of documentation using Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe Acrobat. For SW documents, produce on-line help,user manuals and API reference guides.
  • Be able to manage competing deadlines, work with the program team to meet customer and business objectives, and ensure that the documents are delivered on time, and are complete and accurate.
  • Be able to work with remote teams across several time zones.
  • Attend program management status meetings to keep tabs on product development and respond to sales/engineering/test requests for documentation deliveries.
  • Be proactive in resolving bottlenecks that affect the release of documents.
  • Anticipate issues and be proactive and willing to educate yourself on the product to gain a deeper understanding of the information discussed among the test engineers, design engineers and the team as a whole.
  • Be willing to ask dumb questions in the interest of learning what is relevant and going beyond simply processing content that is “delivered” to you.
  • Support Design Engineers documentation efforts by training them on software tools, such as FrameMaker and Visio to improve efficiency in raw data transfer between the designer and writer.
  • Demonstrate initiative to learn new technology/software.
  • Apply training and documentation standards and also work with management to find solutions in these areas where improvements are needed.
  • Take initiative to solve problems all around that move Marvell forward, demonstrating your leadership on the program team as well as on the writing team, in such areas as:
    · Introducing new tools/processes
    · Mentoring other writers
    · Focusing on solutions

FUNCTIONS:

  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
  • Confer with clients and vendors to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.
  • Develop healthcare software documentation.
  • Use standardized documentation development tools and processes.
  • Work with subject matter experts, systems, and the development team’s documentation to create drafts for subject matter experts to review.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in Technical Communications, Journalism, English, Engineering, Information Technology or related field
  • Three (3) years experience developing, writing, and editing computer user manuals
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience with technical communication methodologies
  • Experience with learning complex software applications
