Researches, writes, and compiles reference material using complex desktop publishing or word processing packages. Analyzes technical literature available, writes descriptive copy, and verifies documentation with related departments. Ensures order, clarity, consistency, style, and terminology are in accordance with set standards. Determines the use of graphics, visual aids, tables, and photographs to support the written text. Evaluates the reading audience for conceptual demands. Responsible for checking the accuracy of documents. Develops methods for accurate and effective generation of documentation going forward. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university plus at least four years of experience; or at least six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journalism degree preferred. Involvement in technical communications, developing & writing standards documents, writing of installation documents, style guides. 11/24/2008 We have 4 Technical Graphic Artist positions open. These are 12 month contracts located in Littleton, CO. We are looking for Technical Graphic Artists who will work with Publications and Services personnel to produce new-business proposals and program documentation according to scheduled deadlines. Conceive, design, lay out, and coordinate editorial illustrations and creative artwork for publications, translating facts and features of subject material into graphic terms that best convey intended meaning. Develop interpretive themes that convey ideas and information. Create graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions. Work closely with internal company contacts to understand requirements and create cost efficient graphic designs through available mediums. May also have responsibility or input on reproduction and printing processes through in-house resources or outside vendors. Education Degree and/or extensive experience in technical writing is essential for success in this position. Engineering education and plant experience is helpful in several writing assignments. Refinery and chemical plant experience is a major asset. Evaluation This position should be evaluated on the quality of writing and the production level of quality product reached. Ability to successfully function as part of a project team is essential and must be evaluated. This position must also be evaluated against the criteria defined in this job description.
