Currently we are looking for a Technical/Training
Writer in the Golden, CO area. Our client needs
to create a drivers operating manual, a service manual, and training
materials for an all electric, hydrogen fuel cell transit bus - first
article prototype.
- Prior transportation experience would be great
and/ or vehicle knowledge (i.e. knows what a transmission is, knows what
suspension is, etc.)
- Ability to facilitate engineers to extract
required information.
- Have experience with standard publishing
software FrameMaker, Paint Shop, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc
- Be able to work on-site in an unstructured
environment.

- The Technical Writer also learns the software,
gathers information, finds a writer (if needed), makes sure company and
industry standards are met, makes sure deadlines are met, and edits the
final version of all documentation.
- The Technical Writer suggests the best
alternative type of documentation based on the products need.
- The Technical Writer would also make
suggestions to programmers and developers how to word information on the
products interface, and assists QA in testing.
- The Technical Writers are user advocates and
can thus make suggestions as to a more useable interface.
- Close communication between the Technical
Writer, Project Manager, Product Manager, Software Developers, and
Quality Assurance personnel is essential in order to investigate,
analyze, and resolve problems arising from such a situation.

their team of three working on a web migration project. They are
currently hosting their client's websites and need to move that hosting to
a different vendor for their client.
They do not usually have much need for in-depth
documentation, so they are looking for someone to help them decide what
form it will take (blog, wiki) something online and be easily updated by
the new vendor. It will need to be web-based with on-line content, so
experience with that type of documentation is essential.
You would be working closely with their Project
manager and a Technical Lead to create three types of documentation for
the project: 1. System setup - documenting
hardware, network, database, code so that the client will know how the
systems are set up 2. System design &
architecture runbook - documenting code (what and where) so that their
client's developers will be able to take over the support and
maintenance 3. System infrastructure - documenting
hardware, network, database so that their clients infrastructure team
will be able to take over the support and maintenance
