RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a high level of expertise and keep current with all publication, print production and distribution technologies needed to meet the goals of the Department in a timely and cost efficient manner.
- Provide for the establishment and maintenance of documents and manuals, describing the policies, procedures, and practices (Frontier Command Media) for the use and guidance of operational organizations (e.g. Flight Operations, In-Flight, Station Operations and Customer Service, Maintenance and Engineering, etc.) Provide publications to oversight agencies in an acceptable form as directed by Director of Aviation Safety & Security. Support at a corporate level that Technical Publications is a customer focused department, and provide a full range of services to the airline’s subject matter experts to prepare new programs and revise existing programs in a fully coordinated, accurate and timely fashion.
- Provide for an independent assessment of the construction, style and format of operational manuals. Ensure all manuals and their contents, meet the requirements of various oversight agencies (e.g. FAA-ATOS/System Safety/Regulatory Compliance) and working with other Frontier Organizations, develop and maintain manual revision service, distribution and availability.
- Interact directly with the FAA, and follow corporate protocol to respond in a timely manner with regulatory concerns.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement and maintain document control systems and fully understand how to use hardware and software systems for the production of documents and manuals, their presentation, printing and distribution. Responsible for the technical content, deployment, use, and enforcement of the Document Control Procedures. (40%)
- Provide direction and support to the management of operational organizations in the creation of a system of manuals which meet company objectives. (10%)
- Identify system deficiencies; prepare immediate corrective action plan and follow-up to evaluate changes. (10%)
- Take immediate and positive corrective action when system deficiencies are found and make changes to the Technical Publications processes based on their performance. (10%)
- Maintain performance metrics indicating Technical Publications' ability to meet its internal requirements and the requirements of its customers. (10%)
- Manage manual interfaces among operational groups. (10%)
- Establish and maintain a Document Recovery plan utilizing off-site back-up, tapes, drives, etc. (5%)
- Identify, quantify and secure resources needed to ensure the department can complete its assigned tasks. (5%)
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Take initiative to create and revise the command media as needed to support corporate goals and report issues to the Director of Aviation Safety and Security.
- There will be 10-15 employees reporting to this position including Supervisor, Technical Writers and Editors.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced knowledge of publishing software (e.g. Framemaker, Documentum).
- 3-5 years experience with manual and document production and distribution processes.
- 2-5 years experience working in Airline Industry.
- Experience in managing the change control ramifications of complex projects.
- 3-5 years Supervisory/Management experience.
- Excellent computer literacy, both hardware and software.
- College degree or equivalent related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience managing publishing systems
- Operating knowledge of airline organizations and their requirements is essential
- Managerial skills in organization and project coordination
- Experience as a project manager.

Conduct research using technical documents, source code, interviews, and other appropriate resources to determine document type, organization, content, format, and applicability to related hard-copy documentation. Minimum Job Qualifications
- 4+ years of design experience.

Our client is a research firm that specializes in telecommunications. They are looking to have writers on hand to complete 20 white papers a year. The workload would be on average 1-2 a month.
