Description

The marketing communications editor/writer maintains and oversees production of StillSecure's marketing collateral, web site content, and customer communications. He/she works closely with communications management, writers, production personnel, and technical leads in ensuring that marketing collateral and web site content projects meet corporate stylistic and quality standards. This is a full time, salaried position.

Responsibilities 

  • Edit product collateral including brochures, web content, presentations, white papers, case studies, and all customer communications
  • Update and coordinate production of product collateral
  • Ensure that online and printed content are consistent and reflect current corporate positioning
  • Edit/proof read all externally directed communications for adherence to corporate style and quality guidelines

Requirements

  • Degree in technical writing, journalism, English, or related field
  • 1 – 3 years professional experience in writing/editing/document production position
  • Expert-level command of grammar and usage
  • Familiarity with technical subject matters, IT, and networking
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Convert highly-technical hardware specifications to new MS Word 2000 format. Conversion may require "interpretation" of current material and highlighting of missing information that needs to be supplied by engineering. MS Word template is quick-key and macro-driven to streamline the conversion process. Numerous samples and template support readily available. Great work conditions and teams. 

Knowledge of using MS Word styles and facilities required. Familiarity with hardware documentation (particularly hardware registers) required.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Education Program Manager in this regular full-time position, individual will be responsible for the development and maintenance of online help, user education materials, and technical reference materials for the Newmerix suite of software products. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Engineering team to understand product functionality, as well as other resources, to include implementation engineering, sales and marketing, to understand customer use of the products.
  • Develop and maintain online help and user manuals for Newmerix software releases.
  • Develop and maintain additional user material, as needed, to include API guides and other technical references.
  • Must enjoy working with and learning new technologies as this is a hands-on position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or technical communications preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 - 6 years experience developing and producing high-quality user documentation and online help for a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional product development team.
  • Well-developed writing and editing skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and the abilities to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Desire and ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a keen sense of urgency and adherence to deadlines is required.
  • Experience developing and maintaining online help systems, preferably with RoboHelp HTML or WebWorks Publisher.
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation manuals, preferably with Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Familiarity with packaged applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, JDE, and/or Oracle) highly desired.
