Job #877
Consultant

Frame/XML Consultant

I have a potential opportunity for a FrameMaker and XML consultant.

I work at Gates Corporation (aka Gates Rubber Co.), which relocated to downtown Denver in 2003.

My department generates data for Price Sheets for Automotive/Industrial Belts and Hoses. We use a legacy system, which manipulates the data and generates a semi-formatted output files. We send the files to a typesetter and then to print.

We have approximately 30 price sheets. Many of them have similar formats. They contain 2, 3, or 4 column tables, front index, footers and multiple headings

We are transitioning from printing these price sheets in legacy to a client/server based software. The new software outputs data files in XML format. We are considering purchasing FrameMaker and inputting the data files into FrameMaker to do our formatting and typesetting internally. Then send the files out to print.

At this point, we do not have the expertise to create FrameMake templates and are researching bringing in consultants to set up the initial templates. If there are STC members who have expertise with FrameMaker and XML, we are very eager to speak with them.
