May Program:  Network with Your Peers

The May STC RMC meeting is all about you! We invite you to network with your STC RMC colleagues on Thursday, May 15th at your choice of locations. Whether you live or work on the north or south end of town, you can share your triumphs, tribulations, and thoughts with technical communicators who face the same daily pressures as you. Looking for a job, a contract, a project? Hook up with your peers at either meeting. The person sitting next to you just might be your contact for your dream job!

The meeting is free; you can purchase your own dinner or beverage at Panera Bread. All we need to know is at which location we can expect to see you. For reservations at the north location, click here. For reservations at the south location, click here.

Summary of 2006-2007 year
The May, 2007 Rocky Mountain Chapter meeting included the annual chapter business meeting. Review the summary of the past year.

Rocky Mountain Chapter awarded Community of Excellence
Announced at the Society for Technical Communication annual convention this year, the award reads, "Community of Excellence presented to the Rocky Mountain Chapter for strong support of two satellite groups, allowing them the advantages of a larger community." Chapter President Deb Lockwood thanked the chapter leadership for its hard work and gave special thanks to Carmen Carmack for submitting the Community Achievement Award application that lead to the award.

Careers in technical communication
The Rocky Mountain Community is pleased to offer college classes a session with an RMC officer on what a career in technical communication may hold for students. If you know of a class that could benefit from this type of presentation, talk it over with Deb Lockwood, community past-president.

Feel free to check out this presentation (PDF) to get a sneak peek.

Attention STC members
To change your contact information with STC , go to http://www.stc.org/formAddressChange.asp. The chapter's primary method of communicating to its membership is through email addresses, so it is important that we have up-to-date information. STC provides all member contact information to STC RMC. We do not maintain a separate membership list.

Get connected ...
If you're an STC RMC member, consider joining techcomm-discuss, the chapter's email list. For information about the list, including how to join, view the list FAQ page and the posting rules.

Separate job list
The STC RMC job announcements reside on their own list. You need to sign up for the separate list by emailing jobs@stcrmc.org. You must be a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter to gain membership.
