Linda Gallagher Elected Fellow
A technology leader, Linda G. Gallagher has used single-sourcing techniques since 1993, creating useful and usable print and online documentation for clients, as well as teaching other technical communicators.
Before starting her own business, TechCom Plus, LLC, Linda managed IT implementations at Bell Labs, Bellcore, and Southwestern Bell, gaining distinction as a technology innovator: initiating and managing a federal regulatory database, overseeing technology implementations, editing user documentation for new technologies, and writing executive speeches about technology.
Linda has taught single-sourcing tools and currently teaches FrameMaker at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is well known as a mentor for people who want to enter the profession or become independents.
Linda has made numerous presentations about tools and consulting at STC international and regional conferences and at chapter meetings, applying her experiences as a technology leader and independent consultant. From 2002 to 2007, she managed STC’s Consulting and Independent Contracting (CIC) SIG.
Linda served in several leadership capacities in the St. Louis chapter, and as Rocky Mountain chapter president, chapter CIC SIG manager, and nominating committee manager. During Linda’s presidency, the chapter received Excellence and Distinction awards. For her longtime service, Linda received the Rocky Mountain chapter president’s award in 2002, the Distinguished Chapter Service Award in 2003, and the Region 7 director-sponsor’s award in 2004. She was elected an associate fellow in 2005.
In addition to her STC activities, Linda has served the Boulder Writers Alliance as jobs coordinator, member of the Internet committee, and presenter at meetings and workshops.
