SIGs |
STC RMC special interest groups (SIGs)Special interest groups (SIGs) are informal groups of members who share a special interest within technical communications. SIGs are open to anyone sharing that interest and generally meet before the regular monthly chapter meetings during the time set aside for networking. The STC RMC has the following active SIGs:
Agendas for upcoming meetings will be posted as available. If you would like to start another chapter SIG, contact the chapter president. Tentative SIG meeting agendasThe information below may change without prior notice. Get in touch with the contact person for your SIG to confirm meeting agendas. Please contact us if you'd like us to update anything. Consulting and Independent Contracting SIGThe Consulting and Independent Contracting (CIC) SIG members are interested in the special business opportunities and challenges involved with working as a contractor or freelancer. The SIG meets before chapter meetings several times per year, as well as separately for in-depth discussions on relevant topics. The SIG offers several web-based resources, including notes from past meetings, a FAQ about freelance technical communication, a list of employment agencies that place technical communicators, a list of STC freelancers, and news about upcoming CIC SIG meetings. Topics of interest to the SIG membership can be brought up for discussion in the chapter's mailing list. The list, which is always a good way to network with other freelancers, is especially useful to members who are unable to attend chapter and SIG meetings. If you have ideas about other web-based resources or want more information on the CIC SIG, contact:
Northern Colorado SIGNorthern Colorado SIG members are full-time workers and independent contractors who live in the Longmont/Greeley/Fort Collins area. Many of us can't attend chapter meetings because of the long commute. We are a professional/social group that meets informally for happy hours and networking. If you want more information, would like to meet your neighbors, or want to help organize, please contact Carmen Carmack. Western Slope SIGopen: Comments? |
